Regulate together through art, then change can come.

why art and not just talk…

Much of early life is held in the body and the senses, long before language arrives. That's true for a baby, for a toddler with a feeling bigger than they are, and for a parent whose birth story still lives in their shoulders.

Rhythm, color, and touch speak that first language. Making something with your hands can settle a nervous system in a way an explanation can't. Once the body feels safer, insight and change come more easily.

That's why expressive arts sit at the heart of everything here.

Many ways to make.

more than paint…

Expressive arts therapy weaves several art forms together, so we can follow whatever helps you, or your child, feel and say what's true.

Paint and color

Watercolor, pastels, and finger paint for the feelings that have a color before they have a name.

Clay and touch

Humming, lullabies, and simple rhythm, the earliest way a parent and baby attune to each other.

Story and play

Rocking, stretching, and gentle rhythm help a body find its way back to calm.

Sound and song

Puppets, figures, and pretend let children work through big moments in their own language.

Movement and breath

Squeezing, rolling, and shaping give busy hands and busy minds something steady to hold.

Nature and found things

Leaves, stones, and seasons bring the grounding of the natural world into the room.

What a session can look like.

what to expect…

Some hours are conversation, some are making, and most are a little of both. We follow what you need that day.

in pregnancy…

Making room for what's coming

A quiet check-in with color, time to notice what your body is holding, and space for all of the feelings related to becoming a parent.

after the baby is born…

A place for your story to land

When your birth story and the early weeks start to feel too big or too tender to tell straight through, trauma-informed art therapy lets you come at it gently, at your own pace.

with your little one…

Side-by-side, ages 3-8

Your child gets a language for big feelings, and you get a window into their world, with new ways to meet them there. Together, we work to understand and connect creatively.

Art time, held with clinical care.

asking the questions…

Before you begin.

Do I need to be artistic?

Not at all. Nothing is graded, and nothing has to look like anything. Scribbles, smudges, and half-finished pieces all count.

It's therapy. The making is guided by a licensed, board certified art therapist and woven together with conversation, reflection, and support.

Is it really therapy, or just art time?

Is this for adults or for kids?

Both. Expressive arts are part of support for parents in pregnancy and postpartum, for children up to age eight, and for parents and children together.

Can we do this virtually?

Yes. Sessions are offered in Boulder and virtually. An art kit will can be mailed to you prior to beginning therapy.
